Steel Coil 550
Introduction
Cold Formed Steel construction is an advanced and precise system using the latest technology. As with all advanced technology the use of materials with the correct specifications is essential to ensure the total system will function efficiently and as designed. Using materials proven to comply to specification not only protects your equipment and the precision of the system, it determines the integrity of the dwelling or commercial structure to be built.
As with all advanced technology using the correct specifications of material and components is essential in the smooth functioning of the technology.
To ensure your machine runs at peak performance galvanised coil G550 ensures that all steel supplied has the correct levels of tensile strength and yield as well as ratios of elongation. This maximises your machines performance as well as economising the amount of steel and increasing efficiencies in production.
When using galvanised coil G550 your yield and steel usage is maximised and you can have confidence in that your structures are compliant to International Standards.
Steel Specifications
The term ‘steel specification’ is very closely related to ‘steel standards’ and the terms are often used interchangeably. The standards specify strict parameters or boundaries on the finished steel’s chemical composition and/or mechanical properties. (JIS, ASTM, AISI, etc.)
Some of the typical mechanical properties and tolerances that may be specified, are minimum tensile strength, minimum yield strength, minimum ductility, and toughness. Other material properties may not appear in a specification, yet are critical in building design; the most important such property is perhaps the elastic modulus, or stiffness. The reason that this does not appear in specifications because there is little variability amongst the various steels.

The above graph shows the relative elongation, yield, tensile and ultimate points of Gr.80 and Gr.50.
Application
Galvanised coil G550 is the ideal steel specification for all structural steel framing applications to provide benefits in transportables & modular projects, high volume social housing, bespoke architectural designs or even light commercial applications. Galvanised coil G550 will allow compliance to all major Building Codes and Standards by ensuring your frames offer the highest capacities required.
General Description
Galvanised coil G550 is a hot dipped galvanised structural grade steel developed specifically to maximise the efficiency of cold formed steel construction projects.
Galvanised coil G550 provides the highest yield strength to minimise the total steel requirement in each of your engineered structures.
Galvanised coil G550 has a guaranteed minimum yield of 550 MPa to maximise yield and lower build costs. Most importantly galvanised coil G550 550 is supplied with full compliance certificates to assure specifiers the materials are compliant to International Standards.
